WordPress 3.0 Upgrade Went Smooth

Wordpress Update Error

With the release of WordPress 3.0, I was excited to upgrade to the latest version. As a PHP (WordPress code) developer, I was prepared to handle issues if any had occurred but overall I didn’t have any problems. Now I also want to make a point that I am only running 5 plugins with my blog and everything else I custom wrote myself. With that said, I had already tested and adjusted my code to be compatible with WordPress 3., hence not having issues when I upgraded. Continue Reading

Happy Father’s Day 2010

June 20th, 2010 by Clifton Hatfield

Father's Day 2010My family and I made it to New Orleans mid evening yesterday after an easy drive through six states. Our son, Cash did a great job and was very entertaining during our whole trip.

Today is Father’s Day 2010

This is my second Father’s Day and I can tell you that it only keeps getting better. I’ve been blessed with an amazing son who loves me so much and I love him more than anything. My son and wife make being a father a breeze because of all the joy they bring into my life and the love I receive from them everyday. They have given me the motivation, encouragement, and drive to work hard, love passionately, and be thankful for everything we have earned together as a family. Continue Reading

WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious” is Finally Here!!

Wordpress 3.0 TheloniousMessage from Me

If you are nervous to update your version of WordPress because of possible compatibility issues with your plugins, then wait. I personally did not wait and did not have any issues but I run my entire blog off 5 plugins. Kimberly Catleberry of JustAskKim.com suggests waiting for all plugins to be compatible with WordPress 3.0. This is especially for beginner bloggers. However, not all plugins are still supported so you may never receive an update for them. It’s ok to wait for plugins to become compatible but for me the pros of version 3.0 out weighs the cons of outdated unsupported plugins.

Touchdown Jesus Catches Fire After Lightning Strike

June 17th, 2010 by Clifton Hatfield

Touchdown JesusThis isn’t my typical blog post or topic but since this is hot news locally for me, I just couldn’t resist blogging about it.

The infamous “King of Kings” statue, also known as Touchdown Jesus or Big Butter Jesus (named by Heywood Banks) was destroyed by a lightning strike and fire on June 14, 2010. A prominent 62 foot statue of Jesus, seemingly rising up from the water surrounding  the 4000+ member Solid Rock Church (Christian) was very symbolic for some of the daily commuters on I-75 near Cincinnati, Ohio. It was difficult to pass without looking over to gaze at it’s immense size and bold statement. Continue Reading

Should I Write Long Copy or Short Copy?

June 13th, 2010 by Clifton Hatfield

Copywriting PencilLong vs. Short Copy? That is the question.

I have read several opinions on whether long copy or short copy is better. Each side offers great points but in this blog post, I am going to let you know my opinion, long copy will always outshell short copy. Higher conversion rates often are the result of long copy. Continue Reading

June 9th, 2010 by Clifton Hatfield

Backup IconHow to perform a full backup of your server even if you have a WordPress Blog.

Imagine losing everything you have worked SO hard to build….it happens all of the time. So I suggest to be better safe than sorry. I have put together a quick video on how to perform a full backup of your server that includes ALL of your files, subdomains, emails, stats, databases, and basically everything on your hosting account. A WordPress plugin will not backup everything because it will only backup your WordPress files and it’s database.

Watch my video below to learn the simple steps of manually backing up your hosting account in just a couple of minutes. Continue Reading
