- Permalink – The permanent identifier to a single or specific blog post.
- Slug – A slug is a few words that describe a post or a page. Slugs are usually a URL friendly version of the post title, but a slug can be anything you like. Slugs are meant to be used with permalinks as they help describe the content at the URL. Example post permalink: http://cliftonhatfield.com/blogging-tools/ The slug for that post is “blogging-tools“.
- RSS – Really Simple Syndication is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts.
- RSS Feed – An RSS-equipped page containing a blog’s latest posts. Example: http://cliftonhatfield.com/feed/
- Blogoholic – A person addicted to blogging. Example: Clifton Hatfield
- Link – A selectable connection from one object to another, using hypertext.
- Tag – Attaching key words to similar posts.
- Header – the topmost part of the blog that usually displays an image and contains the blog’s title.
- Index page - Front page of a blog.
- Footer – Opposite of a Header. The most bottom part of a blog typically containing copyright statements or listing navigation.
- Posts – Individual articles collectively making up a blog.
- Archives – Collection of all blog posts on a single page.
- FTP – (File Transfer Protocol)-The transfer of files to and from your web host using tools such as Dreamweaver or Filezilla.
- CMS (Content Management System) – Software used to publish/manage websites.
- Comment Thread – Series of post comments on a particular topic.
- Sidebar – Column/columns typically found on the side of most blogs.
