How To Make Money Blogging

Make money bloggingHow do you make money on a blog?

In this article, I will talk about the two basic ways of making money with your blog. I won’t go into specifics but this will help you decide exactly the purpose of your blog and which method you plan to use to make money with it.

There are basically two categories for making money with a blog

Some people may want to get into detail and say there are more than two ways…and there are…but you can look at all the different ways and still categorize them into two broad categories. I’m here to talk about them.

Direct Monetization

The direct method is a strategy that allows bloggers to earn an income directly from their blog. This would include running advertisements, acquiring sponsorships, earning affiliate commissions, and even paid reviews. Basically, any way that you are making money as a direct connection to having your blog.

Indirect Monetization

The indirect method is very popular in which bloggers earn an income because  of their blog. They have used their blog as a tool to build authority, creditability, or edify their expertise. Because of this, they are able to earn an income from such things as freelance contracts, published books & ebooks, speaking engagements, consulting opportunities, running courses, and membership sites.

Whether your blog earns directly or indirectly, it is still considered passive income.

Final Thought

Many blogs fall into both categories using direct and indirect monetization methods. You do not need to stick with one or the other but I encourage you to experiment with all your options. The most important thing to remember is that blog with no activity, not maintained, actively updated, or obviously built on auto-pilot will see low traffic numbers which means you can’t make money blogging directly or indirectly. It’s all about the traffic.

Thanks for the article, Clifton. Simple and to the point which is good. I like the format and look of your blog. It is clean and you always include a nice graphic. Still working on my blog as it was one of the first sites I set up, but got side tracked by making capture or squeeze pages for my opportunity. Soon I can go back to my blog and hopefully add in those opportunities as pages in my blog? and then start blogging on a regular basis.
