Part Three – Videos
Another great opportunity to gain exposure, and get links and traffic to your blog, is through the use of online videos. While there are financial and time commitments to creating and editing videos, getting viral can help get your blog to the tipping point far faster than any other online channel. YouTube is by far the king of video sites, but there are hundreds of others including Vimeo, Viddler, Blip.tv, 5min, DailyMotion, and MetaCafe. Are you distributing your videos to these outlets as well? Are you monitoring your videos’ success or failure and watching the performance of others in these channels to see what’s getting noticed or ignored? If not, you should be. The days of ‘fish marketing’ are over. Watch you campaigns to see which are working and which aren’t. Form there you can cut the slack and build the channels that provide the most traffic and exposure to your blog.
If video is a serious consideration for your website, placing your content exclusively on YouTube is a good bet if you are strapped for time. Create a YouTube Channel (even if you do not have any videos yet) and “friend” related users and “favorite” quality videos. Remember, the link from your YouTube channel to your blog is a do-follow link.
