I am sick of the F word. It’s everywhere I go. It’s at work, at the grocery, and even in the school yards. The problem is that many people are walking around with good, if not great, ideas in their head but they lack the will to make the ideas happen. “In a battle between two ideas, the best one doesn’t necessarily win. No, the idea that wins is the one with the most fearless heretic behind it.” Seth Godin Why? Fear. That’s why.

The F word and what it’s all about.
Fear is an emotion that is embedded into our nature. We may feel it the most when faced with the potential of change or chance of criticism. That’s why it can be so difficult for you to challenge the status quo because you fear the change. It’s only natural but you can do something about it.
So how do you overcome such a fear? Think your way out of the fear. You will never be able to completely remove the emotion but you can drown it out with the story of success about your innovative idea and how it will impact the industry and influence the market.
Do something worth criticizing and do not be scared of the criticism it will receive. They fear you’re challenging the status quo and if no one is critiquing your idea, you probably aren’t doing something right. Those who do not have the will to overcome their fear will be the first to attempt to bring you down. Don’t let them. The masses are all geared up to hear about people failing. People failing in their ventures. People failing with their ideas. People failing to beat out their own fear of change and criticism. The idealists who succeed do so because they challenge their fear and keep their eyes on the prize. So don’t fear the blame of a failed idea because turning your idea into a revolutionary movement does not have a chance of becoming anything less than successful. You are empowered to lead a movement and it starts with an idea.

Hey Clifton,
A friend passed your post along because I have a post with a similar title on my blog, http://maryloukayser.com/at-the-end-of-the-day-its-all-about-the-f-word/. Different content, but interesting that the same title is there.
I like your blog. Looks like we run in similar circles. Let’s connect on FB and Twitter!
Have a great day!
Best, Mary Lou

I’m pretty darn sick of the F word too! Really, fear is just energy ~ and we can CHOOSE, in each given moment, whether we let it paralyze us or propel us.
Power to the revolution! :)

You are so right Beth. If we can funnel our fear into something that drives us, success is inevitable. Thanks!
